Different audiences, different products
Mapbox is for developers
If you're building a SaaS product, a fleet-tracking app, or a custom CRE platform with embedded maps, Mapbox is excellent. Their API and Studio are best-in-class for developers.
We're for brokers
If you're a CRE broker who needs a polished retail map for an OM by tomorrow morning, you don't want to learn JavaScript and wire up the Places API. CRE Retail Maps gives you the finished tool.
No surprise billing
Mapbox charges per map load and per API call. A viral listing or analytics tool can produce a surprise bill. CRE Retail Maps is $39/mo flat - what you see is what you pay.
When you should pick Mapbox instead
Mapbox is the right tool when you're building a custom application that needs maps as a core feature - a logistics platform, a real estate listings site, a fleet tracker, or any product where mapping is part of the user experience.
Mapbox Studio gives developers full control over map styling, vector tile generation, and embedded map components. The pricing scales with usage, which is fine for products with predictable load.
If you're a CRE broker who just needs a finished retail map - tenant logos, leader lines, a branded PDF - CRE Retail Maps is the no-code alternative. You sign in, search an address, and export. No SDKs to learn, no tokens to manage, no per-call billing.
Mapbox vs CRE Retail Maps FAQs
Can I customize the map styling like I would in Mapbox Studio?+
We give you 8 preset map styles (default, light, dark, retro, silver, night, satellite, terrain) plus 12 color swatches and a custom color picker. It's not full Mapbox Studio control, but covers the common broker use cases.
Does CRE Retail Maps have an API?+
Not currently a public API. The product is a finished editor + export pipeline, not a developer platform. If you need programmatic map generation, Mapbox is a better fit.
Can I embed CRE Retail Maps in my own website?+
Yes - export as PNG or PDF and embed the static image. The interactive editor itself isn't currently embeddable like a Mapbox iframe.
What about pricing for high volume?+
We're $39/mo flat with unlimited maps and exports. Mapbox can be cheaper or more expensive depending on usage - their free tier handles low volume, but high-traffic apps can run several hundred dollars per month.
Is the underlying map data the same as Mapbox?+
We use Google Maps for the base map data. Mapbox uses OpenStreetMap by default. Different data sources, different visual quality - try both and see which fits your style.
